Violence in schools is a concern of many educators and recently has received increased attention on a local and national level. Despite this attention, the roles of communication and violence have not sufficiently been addressed in discussions on violence. This article includes a review of three studies involving teenage delinquent girls residing in a correctional facility. Major findings from the studies support why educators need to consider the role of communication in relation to violence. Implications, recommendations, and conclusions are offered for speech-language pathologists and other educators involved in planning programs for adolescents involved in violence.
