Using Verbal Scaffolding To Facilitate Conversational Participation and Language Acquisition in Children With Pervasive Developmental DisordersSan Francisco/Berkeley, CA In this article, a discourse based language intervention strategy for children with pervasive developmental disorders is described. Specifically, children with limited generative language are taught to make use of prior linguistic context to participate verbally in structured, interactive dialogues.
