Television-Assisted Assessment of Communication Skills

This paper describes an assessment procedure which employed television in the clinical evaluation of an unintelligible preschool child referred for speech-language evaluation. Taking advantage of a preschooler's familiarity with and interest in television, an extended sample of clinical communication and linguistic skills was elicited from an otherwise noninteractive youngster.
